• College transfer pathways provide up to 35 hours of tuition-free course credits toward liberal studies or general education requirements, saving successful students time and money in pursuing four-year degrees.

College Transfer Pathway Tracks

  1. College transfer pathway leading to the Associate in Arts- which is made to transfer into majors such as: Education, Business Administration, Psychology etc. This program has more humanities/social sciences and less math/science courses.
  2. College transfer pathway leading to the Associate in Science- which is made to transfer into majors such as: Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, Pre-Medicine, Engineering etc. This program is more math/science courses and less humanities/social sciences.

Eligibility Requirements

1. Be a high school junior or senior;

2. Have a weighted GPA of 3.0 (“B”) on high school courses; and

3. Demonstrate college readiness on an assessment or placement test (see below)

*Students must enroll in one college transfer pathway and may only enroll in courses that are part of that pathway.  Students in a college transfer pathway may also enroll in one Career and College Promise Career Technical Pathway.  Students may switch pathways with the principal’s approval.

Mainting Eligibility

1. Continue to make progress toward high school graduation, and

2. Maintain a 2.0 in college coursework after completing two courses.

3. A student who falls below a 2.0 GPA after completing two college courses will be subject to the college’s policy for satisfactory academic progress.

 

How to apply

1. Complete the Career and College Promise Application.

2.Complete the Haywood County Schools Parent Permission Form (for Haywood county students only).

3. Turn into your high school counselor and they will complete page two of the application.

Career and College Promise: Saving you time and money

The current Comprehensive Articulation Agreement (CAA) between North Carolina community colleges and all public University of North Carolina Schools, as well as many private colleges and universities in the state, guarantees students will receive equivalent general education credit for the courses that make up the CCP college transfer pathways.

CAA Baccaluareate Degree Plans

CAA Baccalaureate Degree Plans provide a pathway for NC community college graduates of Associate’s in Arts and Associate in Science programs to lead into their plan of study at their University of choice in NC.
